My artistic journey
Art has always been a part of my life, starting in high school and weaving through various jobs and careers. A few years ago, I felt an undeniable urge to paint—that tingle in my fingers, the itch to create, and the constant flow of images and ideas in my mind. Could I put that onto a canvas? Painting became a release, an escape where I could get lost in the process. As a mum to a three-year-old daughter, it offered some precious 'me time'. After visiting an exhibition, my husband encouraged me to join the local art society, and that truly sparked my creative journey.
Art that sparks your imagination
When you view my art, I don't want to impose specific ideas or feelings. Instead, I create pieces that invite you to develop your own interpretations and thoughts. It's always fascinating when these resonate with my own vision, but ultimately, my goal is for the artwork to evoke a response, to spark something within you. Each piece is an open invitation for personal connection and reflection.
My creative process and mediums
My artistic creations are as diverse as the mediums I use. The process often involves acrylics, watercolours, textured paints, oils, spray paints, pencils, crayons, pastels, and whatever else feels right for the surface! My floral pieces generally evolve through a loose, organic preparation and development. The abstracts are a dynamic mix of fluid flow and intentional mark-making. For my animal, landscape, and portrait works, I combine various mediums with meticulous fine detailing. I have a passion for all these methods, as they allow me to express different moods and feelings.
